February 12, 2022 - Ongoing
Mint Museum Uptown at the Levine Center for the Arts
This exhibition is the first in the Southeast to examine how craft artists and designers use scientific and mathematical concepts in their work and explores the parallels between art makers and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics) professionals. It also looks at the intersection of STEAM and art and its importance in education. The exhibition draws items exclusively from the Mint Museum collection and is within the permanent galleries. Curated by Rebecca Elliot, Assistant Curator of Craft, Design, & Fashion and Annie Carlano, Senior Curator of Craft, Design & Fashion of The Mint Museum, objects featured are organized by material type. A fully-illustrated catalogue published by D. Giles, Ltd. will accompany the exhibition.
Included in the exhibition are works from Project Ten Ten Ten
- For Project Ten Ten Ten, the Mint Museum commissioned ten of the world's most innovative craft and design artists to each create a piece specifically to commemorate the opening of the Mint Museum Uptown on October 10, 2010. Four of those artists are featured in the videos below.
