Wendell Castle
Dubbed "Father of the modern design art furniture movement" by the Smithsonian, Castle has created his iconic sculptural furniture for over four decades. His primary material has been wood, although he has also worked in plastic and metal. His work is on view in the Beyond Craft exhibition as well as part of the Mint Museum's permanent collection. This is a unique opportunity to interact with this legendary craftsman.

threeASFOUR
Gabi Asfour, Angela Donhauser, and Adi Gil are threeASFOUR, an avant-garde design group who combine cultural symbology and technology into their clothing designs. Featured in the Mint's exhibition Body Embellishment, threeASFOUR's collections have been acquired by numerous institutions including the V&A Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Chicago-based Carlos Rolon, aka Dzine, creates ornate works of art and installations based on street art and "Kustom Kulture," and is known for his exuberant, over-the-top environments that engage the visitor. Formally trained as a painter, Dzine also authored "Nailed," a photographic history of nail art and has exhibited in many prominent museums.
Architect and MacArthur Fellow Jeanne Gang is the founder and principal of Studio Gang, a Chicago-based collective of architects, designers, and thinkers whose projects confront pressing contemporary issues. Recently realized projects by the firm include "The Garden in the Machine," a proposal reimagining the suburb of Cicero, Illinois; Aqua Tower, an Emporis Skyscraper of the Year; and the Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo, an educational landscape, boardwalk, and pavilion demonstrating how nature and city can co-exist.

Stephen Cassell & Adam Yarinsky - ARO
Architecture Research Office (ARO), a New York-based firm practicing modern architecture and visionary urbanism, has completed projects for Princeton University, Prada, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. ARO was the winner of the 2011 Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Architecture. Current work by the firm includes Zimple House at Tulane University's Newcomb Lawn College; a restoration of American sculptor Donald Judd's home and studio; and new synagogue for the world's largest LGBT Jewish community.

Ben Fry - Fathom Design
Ben Fry is a principal of Fathom, a Boston-based design consultancy that helps clients understand and express complex data visually through information graphics, interactive tools, software for installations, the web, and mobile devices. Fry's research focuses on combining fields such as computer science, statistics, graphic design, and data visualization as a means of understanding information. His work has appeared in the Whitney, the Cooper-Hewitt, and the Museum of Modern Art. Fry is the winner of the 2011 National Design Award for Interaction Design.

Kulapat Yantrasast - wHY Architecture
Kulapat Yantrasast, a native of Thailand, is the co-founder and principal of wHY Architecture which he founded with fellow architect Yo-ichiro Hakomori. In 2012, he was named one of the 100 Most Powerful People in the Art World in Art + Auction's annual Power 100 issue. wHY Architecture completed the Grand Rapics Art Museum, the first new art museum in the world to receive the LEED certification for environmental design. wHY has done a series of design and collection installations at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Bridge at the Great Wall of Los Angeles. Current projects include the expansion of the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Kentucky.

Fabric Salon with Sherri Donghia
A unique, hands-on experience with internationally acclaimed designer Sherri Donghia allows participants to explore artisanal, industrial, synthetic, and natural materials. Ms. Donghia will bring her favorite textile treasures collected from around the world, as well as specialty mill fabrics and industrial performance textiles to illustrate how they can all work together for today's living and working spaces. Ms Donghia has received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Fashion Group International, and the Elle Décor International Design Award for Fabric, and is the first American to receive the Masters of Linen, Maitre du Lin.
