IB Students!

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has five high schools that offer the IB Diploma.  The International Baccalaureate Program is dedicated to developing citizens of the world through culture, language and learning to live together.

The Mint Museum Library is a valuable treasure for primary and secondary resources.  If your extended essay is in the visual arts, we can help you find information that may not be available in public or school libraries.

From the IB Extended Essay Instructional Overview:

"The outcome of the research should be a coherent and structured piece of writing (with appropriate illustrations) that effectively addresses a particular issue or research question, appropriate to the visual arts (broadly defined to include architecture, design and contemporary forms of visual culture). The reasearch may be generated or inspired by the student's direct experience of artwork, craftwork or design, or intereset in the work of a particular artist, style or period. This might be related to the student's own culture or another culture. Personal contact with artists, curators and so on is strongly encouraged, as is the use of local and/or primary sources.
