American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection

September 10, 2022 - December 25, 2022

Mint Museum Uptown: Brand Galleries

Thomas Moran, Moonlight in Venice, 1898

The DeMell Jacobsen Collection is one of the finest privately held collections of American art in the United States. American Made marks the first time that the collection has been featured in a traveling exhibition. To learn more about Dr. Diane DeMell Jacobsen's collection, view this blog post from the Cummer Museum.

The exhibition surveys the development of American art, with a focus on painting, from the late 18th century through the mid-20th century. The works cover a wide range of genres and subjects with which American artists engaged, including portraiture, still life, landscape, genre painting, and abstraction. The show will feature more than 100 works of art from the collection, including more than 100 paintings and 8 sculptures. The pages below will provide resources and context for the eight thematic sections of the exhibition. Annotated bibliographies of library resources are on each page, but click here to see a full list.
