Throughout the exhibition Josiah Wedgwood's contributions to the decorative arts and his resourcefulness are highlighted.  His ability to innovate came from his desire to experiment with his medium, clay, and to take inspiration from a wide range of sources. A potter, an inventor, a factory reformer, abolitionist, a scientist, and an innovator in ceramics, marketing and manufacturing, Wedgwood was a remarkable and fascinating figure whose influence is still felt today.
