In order to prepare yourself for tours of  Develar Y Detonar you may want to educate yourself about gender identity, sexual orientation, and  gender expression with some of these resources:

  • Gender diversity terms & supporting students who don't conform to gender norms

  • Suzanne Cormier shared this graphic which she uses in her teaching practice

  • Transgender Identity Terms and Labels

  • Bathroom Debate Complicates Mexican Town's Acceptance of a Third Gender

  • A brief documentary about Muxes

I know some of you had questions about words that should not be used.  Trandgendered, transvestite, tranny, shemale, and he-she are outdated terms and can be hurtful. Please do not use these terms during your tours.
